Where has my lovely country gone?
The country I once knew,
When neighbours helped each other
And people were staunch and true;
When respect and courtesy always would be shown
And the elderly cared for when living alone.
Teachers would be respected and always looked up to.
Children were obedient and did what they were told to do.
They would climb trees, have rough and tumble games
And in their spare time would roam the parks and woodland,
With no thought of guns or crime.
So where has my lovely country gone? Will I ever again see
The country I was once so proud of return to what it used to be?
Lovingly composed by Mary Rodham, aged 44 (plus a bit more)
